Areas of Research & Specialization

My research is concerned with strengthening health systems in low and middle income countries so that they reflect the priorities and needs of the local communities they serve. I center my analysis around the ways in which health inequities reflect disparities in power and decision-making, as well as how social, political, and economic factors affect health status. More recently, this has extended into health systems reform in the United States. My particular area of focus is on advancing methods that may be used to support greater community participation in, and ideally ownership of, health policymaking.
