Deepa Srikant serves as an assistant professor within the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders who has diverse working experiences. She is passionate about teaching and prepping future Speech-Language Pathologists to make a positive impact on people’s lives.  In collaboration with her colleagues she adopts student-centered and transparent teaching methods by using innovative pedagogical approaches. She creates a positive learning environment for students and is open to communication. With a belief that everyone’s growth looks different her goal is to strive to support the growth and success of her students.

Her interest lies in the domains of bilingualism, dementia, and cognitive communication abilities. Being a bicultural and multilingual faculty her long-term objectives are to continue to study the impact of bilingualism and multilingualism in language preservation and attrition in healthy elderly and persons with neurogenic communication disorders. Her research aims to create awareness on symptoms of cognitive decline in elderly at the earliest stage possible and use strategies to reduce the progression of cognitive linguistic decline. Dr. Srikant's success is rooted in her belief in collaboration, and she finds immense joy in working with her colleagues and students on grants and scholarships.

She loves traveling with her family, going hiking, and playing sports. Together with her family she loves observing holidays and sharing culture and celebrations with her students and colleagues.
