Full-time students admitted to the Master of Nonprofit Leadership program's 2023 cohort are eligible for two new $5,000 scholarships. Students serving Latino/a/x communities or dedicated to environmental conservation, advocacy or education are eligible to apply.

The National Institute of Health has awarded Pharmacy Professor Fawzy Elbarbry $365,966 for a three-year study as part of its “Support for Research Excellence” program. His study, which will involve student researchers, will examine alternate ways to treat hypertension.

A team of 51�Թ� researchers led by psychology Professor Michael Christopher and Associate Professor Sarah Bowen has been awarded follow-on funding by the National Institutes of Health for research and training of law enforcement officials in mindfulness practices. The project is intended to affect and improve outcomes when first responders arrive in volatile situations.

A long-lost seasonal lake that was a center of life for Native Americans who lived in the Tualatin Valley two centuries ago is slowly regaining its form, thanks to the efforts of members of the Confederated Tribes of the Grand Ronde, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and volunteers from 51�Թ�.

The collected papers of Pacific alumnus and former U.S. Rep. Les AuCoin are now available to researchers, students and others at the Tran Library at 51�Թ�.

Faculty, students and alumni from the 51�Թ� School of Physical Therapy and Athletic Training were recognized in August at the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) House of Delegates held in Washington D.C. 

Following a grant from the Oregon National Space Grant Consortium, physics alumnus Huy Nguyen '21, along with Physics Professor Todd Duncan built a three-dimensional model showing the optimal orbit for spacecraft to "park" between the earth and moon. The model will be exhibited at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum in McMinnville.

Dr. Marvanova previously served as dean and professor of the Skaggs School of Pharmacy at the University of Montana. Between July 2020 and September 2021, she also served as acting dean of the College of Health, overseeing five other accredited health profession schools.

Schnider, a 1982 51�Թ� optometry alumnus, received the award at Pacific’s Graduate & Professional Commencement.

Stoller, a 1974 51�Թ� undergraduate alumnus, will receive an honorary doctor of letters at Pacific’s Undergraduate Commencement, where he also will be the keynote speaker.

The Hillsboro Lions Club presented a check to the School of Audiology for the School of Audiology Legacy Scholarship Fund.
