51³Ô¹Ï Forensics Talent Award

Thank you for your interest in the 51³Ô¹Ï Forensics Team! The Forensics Talent Awards are intended to honor both past achievements and future potential in competitive speech and debate. Please note that students are not required to have a background in competitive speech to apply for this award. Students that have experience with similar activities like mock trial, model UN, drama/theatre, or public speaking classes are strongly encouraged to submit applications too. If you don’t have specific experience with competitive speaking, just adjust your experiences to fit the prompts as best as you can on the application.

Students that participate on the forensics team at 51³Ô¹Ï are eligible to earn between $2,000 to $6,000 annually. To sustain a talent award, students must:

  1. Maintain full-time status at 51³Ô¹Ï.
  2. Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA.
  3. Compete in at least two different genres of competition.
  4. Compete at a minimum of four competitions per year.
  5. Attend weekly team meetings and/or coaching sessions.
  6. Assist with program development and annual tournament hosting.

Application Procedure

In order to be considered for a forensics talent award, please complete the following steps:

  1. Apply to 51³Ô¹Ï by February 1.
  2. Submit the following application materials by March 1:
    1. Forensics talent award .
    2. Forensics talent award , to be completed by a coach or teacher.
    3. Copies of your speech competition ballots (or similar assessments from other activities or classes) from your most recent year of competition (can be submitted via electronic application).
    4. Any additional documentation that you would like to submit for consideration (can be submitted via electronic application). For example, students may submit a 2-minute video audition or written essay of a recent research project. Please note, while supplementary documentation may aid an application, it is not specifically required
